                                Types of cakes




Cake is one of the best way to celebrate our life. From wedding to birthdays and every event in between, a cake is often the dessert of choice. While most of us are familiar with classics like yellow, white and chocolate cake, that’s just beginning. There are dozens of different type of cake around the world. Deciding which one to bake will depend on the type of celebration, flavor preference, and even the ingredients you have on hand.

1.     Vanilla cakes





This is a vanilla cake between the yellow cake and the white cake. Vanilla cake is made with shortening (like white cake ) and whole eggs (like yellow cake ) so, while it is not yellow like yellow cake. It is also not white like white cake. Vanilla cake generally has a white color and a moist dense texture.

Next in line for the classics is a basic chocolate cake.  Made with butter and eggs, this cake has the same base as yellow cake.  However, chocolate cake is usually made with milk, cream or buttermilk.  This creates an even denser texture and richer flavor. Chocolate cake gets its rich flavor and color from the addition of cocoa powder.  Unsweetened cocoa powder is mixed with dry ingredients to create a lovely brown color and deep chocolate flavor.



3.     Red velvet cake



The base of Red Velvet Cake is similar to that of classic chocolate cake.  It also contains cocoa powder.  However, only.  About 8 to 12 tablespoons of cocoa powder is used in one whole cake.  Therefore, you only get a hint of chocolate flavor. a.  The color of red velvet cake comes from the addition of food coloring.
